Fight the horde

Why should I care about this game, why should you care?
Well to answer that. There are too few games where you fight an insane amount of enemies at the same time.

Aside from strategy games and top down games, this is virtually unheard of. The closest contender is Dynasty Warriors, but those games have boring gameplay. It’s mostly about mashing two keys and block every now and then. Sure you can rack up several thousand kills, but you mostly fight boring humans. It also has a severe lack of blood, gore and interesting characters.
Also they lack good bosses.

Edf is a good contender, but it’s a bit unbalanced and needs some more options. Some company made a version for steam called insect Armageddon. It was a little fun, but it had qte ticks that latched on to you, just to go boom in your face and enemies took ages to kill on nightmare.
The biggest reason for the lack of such games is probably technology. One of the few games from the west that have about 300 enemies is a Star ship troopers game. Which is virtually unheard of and have some severe compatibility issues.

The concept

Game play is composed of a couple of main elements. A team can be composed of up to 4 players, whom have to cooperate in order to success.
One part of the team is scurrying around on the ground to locate loot and installations, while the other part of the team is flying overhead.
Air superiority is important, since it provides you with radar coverage and the ability to carry large cargo. The heavier the load, the slower it moves. But with good ground support the player can haul off big things, without getting shot down. Naturally the Vtol comes with many weapons and upgrades, so it’s not just a fancy cargo loader.

It sports a fancy spotlight, beam weapons and several hardpoints.
Not only are the players fighting from both ground and air, but there are vicious monsters everywhere. Half the fun comes from fighting the almost unstoppable horde of at least 150 plus enemies.
And bosses, big bosses

Zombies, Qte and Suicide bombers

A suicide bomber is one of the most annoying enemies in a game. They are one minded walking bombs, that requires little or no path finding. They will spot someone and relentlessly run into their face and blow up. As an enemy it sucks, so it is something to avoid. Also they have just too many links to international terrorism.

Similar to suicide bombers zombies also require no intelligence, but unlike bomber they seldom run or do anything. Their attacks are usually to grab, bite or puke on the target. They are aslo extreamly boring, even in a horde.

Qte, also known as quick time events. In big budget games this cheap way of making cinematic and annoying cut scenes is a main stay, you will fail if you click the wrong key or does not click fast enough. Otherwise known as press A to not die. It was made popular with Resident Evil 4. The problem is that they’re usually combined with suicide bombers. Imagine a thing getting stuck on your head and if you don’t spam that key like a madman, you’ll die. Sure people love a challenge, then try and do this 50 times over.

Captains Brifing

Captains briefing:
All right gentlemen, we’re almost at the destination. So I have to go over some of the basics.
We need better equipment, since we had to sneak by quarantine blockade we had to travel light. Aside from that, it’s not like we’re made of money. Our researcher can help us with that, since the place is bound to have technology that is worth a fortune.
Now we just have to go down to the surface and carry the cargo back to camp. Since we can’t haul the large stuff on our back, we brought with us a vtol craft, that can carry heavy cargo, at the cost of speed and maneuverability. So recommend that we bring with us some antiair to protect it. Unfortunately it’s not very good at shooting down flying foes, however is sports a nice searchlight, a surgical laser and several hardpoints.
On the ground there are several problems, low visibility at times, blistering winds that chills the bones and something is probably lurking below the ice. Also I think something is hiding inside the ruins. But with some good air cover we should be able to spot and to intercept incoming threats.
(Note to self, do not trust the hired hands, they all have a hidden agenda. It seems like not everyone want cold hard cash and a new shiny ray gun.
We do know that something went wrong. This much water is not something that could occur naturally, not to mention the fact that the water also froze fast. If we can get some info, maybe we can unlock the truth behind it all and make a fortune on that alone. All we’ve got now is some wacky conspiracy theories.
But first things first.
This bucket of bolts is my ship and your only way to get on and off this icehole, so I suggest you keep it safe at all cost. Therefore I need you guys to surround the area with lights and proximity sensors.
When we eventually haul something good back to base, be sure to dedicate a spot outside of the ship to storage.
The same goes for the research lab. I can’t have things go boom inside the ship.
Also I want turrets, lots of turrets, since we’re not alone down here.
Since some of the treks will be far from the LZ I suggest we set up a minor camp to store stuff.
Good luck and good hunting
